The Office of Privacy and Open Government will host its Annual National Sunshine Week event on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. Sunshine Week occurs each year in mid-March, coinciding with James Madison's birthday and National Freedom of Information Day. It is a national initiative to promote a dialogue about the importance of open government and freedom of information. The Department of Commerce continues to be a leader in promoting open government and this year’s event is titled, “Transparent, Inclusive, Responsive, and Accountable”.
